University of Third Age students visit at MMRI

Students of University of Third Age (U3A) in Karczew were visiting our Laboratory of Protein Engineering as a part of the trip to Mossakowski Medical Research Institute in February 16th. Team members were presenting main equipment we are using and explaining principles of our experimental work. Dr Magdalena Kaus-Drobek and dr Marzena Nowacka described general steps of recombinant protein using various types of chromatography. Michał Zaród showed a method for determining the bacteriolytic activity of enzymes. Dr Małgorzata Korzeniowska presented zebrafish facility, in which Danio rerio experimental model is used for toxicity testing and serves as infection model to test our novel enzybiotics. Senior citizens from U3A were very interested in our activities and impressed by the technology and processes we are using but also scientific issues we are trying to solve during our projects. We would like to thank the Association for the opportunity to showcase cutting-edge research and promote science, including our projects, among others PrevEco, funded by Norway Grants and Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
